It's called "stalls" or "player shops." Its a pretty old/common idea actually. I know a lot of MMOs that have this. It's in this free one I play now called Tales of Pirates for example.

I'm not sure, but I think the concept started with runescape.

If they just absolutely refuse to put an Auction House in, they should definitely at least incorporate Bazaars.

The biggest thing that got me to leave Guild Wars for so long and play FFXI instead was that I hated all that time sitting in Lion's Arch or Droknar's Forge trying to sell stuff. With FFXI I could just throw it on the Auction House and get my currency later after it sold. Or I could put it in my Bazaar and still go do quests and missions and if someone wanted to peruse my Bazaar they could without me having to stop what I was doing.

The worst thing about Guild Wars is the long tedious BORING hours of trying to sell stuff by spamming a trade channel. So yeah at LEAST a bazaar option would be a huge improvement if they won't do an Auction House.

Another good idea is from the Game endless(absoloutely crap), but what if u had a sales board, with like different catagories to what ur selling, i know that wouldnt be to costly(if endless can afford it)...but then again it may be spammed out, unless u payed for how long advertisement goes

What you could do is have sort of NPC or location where everyone goes that opens up a window much like the Party Search window. People could then post a line of text of what they're selling, and when you click on their line, a small box that looks like a chest page or inventory page opens up with the items they're selling.

Yup. Shop stalls 'descriptions' would appear as 'Sell' party search lines.
But people inviting them would instantly travel to their locations, or directly open up the stall.

It's one of the oldes (and best working) trade systems.
Since it allows AFK selling, ensure prices do not go much high, since the 'sell' prices are fixed (they do not increase like in auctions).
Do not take much server resources, since the items you are selling are in your inventory.

People still have to look for people selling thins, but no much less spamming is needed, and palyers can sell while they do not play, or while waiting in the rings...

So far this would be the best possible idea.

There are a lot of really good points and suggestions going on in this thread and I really hope they aren't all in vein.

The ideas for adding in a trade system such as the one in Rappelz is a quite good idea considering that it's spam free, people are free to look/buy while you're away and it's not even close to an auction house! It's a simple means of selling whilst afk.

I've given up on selling at the moment considering that there is so much time and effort involved in spamming, negotiating prices, or just having someone complain because their definition of "perfect" is different to your own.

I hope Anet can at least consider something like this and let us know if it's possible. And frankly I'm somewhat surprised this wasn't in GW from the start considering SO many online RPGs have a feature at least similar to this.

Keep coming up with ideas guys!

The concept is very popular in alot of free MMORPGs. I played a game called 2moons for a while and it uses the same system. However, there is a problem to it, as seen in 2moons. Most sellers tend to come to the main dis in the town (dis 1 prob) and set their personal "shops" near Storage or the exit of the Town. With so many people it is really hard to see the little box above their head and find out what exactly they are selling. Most of the time in 2moons people just click on individual person and open the shop screen 1 by 1, which will get really annoying.

The "problem with trade" as it is, is that there are WAY more people wanting to sell than wanting to buy. This is mostly due to the fact that there is very little high end wares, and most are only dropping in value. If a player wants a specific skin and req they go farm it for awhile or even more notably already have it.

If there is anyone here that remembers the wts in warcamp from people whom were selling at 25%-50% under what everyone else was, saying that it was for the "supporting the army". This is not a political statement but meant as," I will equip my fellow gamer, and make a marginal profit to make others than myself more powerful and happy, so that 1 day if I play with them they won't suck so bad, I hope. Well I was 1 such person, the greed of yourselves is the trading systems undoing. in my opinion if you were selling for more than what the merch will give you, you are in good shape.
